Privacy and terms
In short: no account is needed to play, and what you write stays yours. The details are below.

Privacy policy (KVKK)
Data controller: Kalemdaş (kalemdas.com) is run by Utopical Dev, the sole proprietorship of Murat Demir ("we"). You can reach us through the contact details at the end of this page.
Data we process: to play, we ask for no account, e-mail address or password. When you play, we process the name you type, what you write in a game (poems, answers, chat messages, and the words or categories its host chooses), what you pick in it (the answers you choose and, where a game has sides, your side) and what you give in it (hearts, reactions, votes and guesses). Your browser gets an anonymous session, a random identifier that lets a game recognise you. To protect the site against bots, Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise processes technical signals from your device and browser. Firebase Hosting, the Google service that delivers the site, sees your IP address, as every web server does.
Purpose and legal basis: we process this data only to run the game you join, which means showing what you write to its players, and to protect the site from abuse. The legal basis is that the processing is necessary to provide the game you asked for, and our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (KVKK article 5/2-c and 5/2-f). Analytics runs only with your consent (see the cookie policy).
Sharing: we do not sell your data, combine it with data from other sources, or use it for advertising. Your poems and messages are shown to the players of the same game. A finished game's poems and answers, with their authors' names, are shown to anyone who has its link for the period chosen for it, and the game's page (its settings and the players' names) opens with the link until it is deleted. The games' content is kept in Google Firebase's Cloud Firestore, on servers in the European Union. The anonymous session, the bot protection and, with your consent, Analytics run on Google's worldwide infrastructure, the United States included. Google processes all of it on our behalf.
Reading aloud: to read a poem aloud, the site uses one of your browser's voices and prefers one on your device. If the voice runs online (as desktop Chrome's Google voices do), your browser sends the poem's text to the voice's provider; the site asks you before such a voice is used.
Retention: a game's poems, answers and messages can be seen for the period chosen when it is created (10 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day), counted from the end of the game. After that nobody can see them, and they are deleted automatically, usually within a day, together with the game's settings and its players' names. A game that is never finished closes the same way, a day and a half at most after it was created. The anonymous session is deleted 30 days after it was created. To slow down abuse, a short record of when you last created a game or sent a message is kept, and deleted a day after the last one.
Contact form
Data we process: when you write to us through the contact form, we process the name, e-mail address and message you type, the time you send it, and that you agreed to this notice. Using the form is optional: you can write to us by e-mail just as well.
Purpose and legal basis: we use them only to read and answer your message. The legal basis is your explicit consent, which you give with the form's checkbox, and our legitimate interest in keeping the form from being abused (KVKK article 5/1 and 5/2-f).
Sharing: the message is kept in Google Firebase's Cloud Firestore, on servers in the European Union, and sent on to our mailbox at Google's Gmail, with your e-mail address as the address we reply to. Sending signs your browser in with an anonymous session and passes through the site's bot protection (Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise). Google processes all of it on our behalf, on its worldwide infrastructure, the United States included. We share it with no one else.
Retention: the copy in Cloud Firestore is deleted automatically 30 days after you send it, usually within a further day. The mail stays in our mailbox for as long as answering you, and any matter your message raises, requires. A short record of when you last sent a message, which keeps the form from being used in a loop, is deleted a day after it.
Your rights: under KVKK article 11 and, where it applies, the GDPR, you may ask whether your data is processed, ask for information about it, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing and withdraw your consent at any time. To use these rights, write to us through the contact details at the end of this page.
Terms of use
Your poems: what you write stays yours. You allow it to be shown to the players of the same game for the chosen retention period; anyone who has the game's link can see it during that period. Poems are not kept beyond it, so copy the ones you love before they fly away.
Playing fair: do not write anything unlawful, insulting or harassing, and do not share anyone's personal data. The host can remove a player from the game, and we remove content that breaks the law once we are notified of it (law 5651).
For adults only: the host can mark a game so when creating it, and then the host, and every player ticking the consent box to join, declares being 18 or older. It is a note among the players and changes nothing in the game: no word, category or card is hidden or changed, and what is written is shown as written. The rules above still apply.
Artificial intelligence: the game uses no AI. Neither the site's content (texts, word lists, design) nor the poems written in it may be used to train AI models or for data mining, and we do not use them for that either.
The site: the game is offered free and as it is. The site's texts, word lists and design belong to us and may not be copied or used commercially without permission.
